Springfield, Missouri, is the fast-growing, third largest city in the Show-Me state. CU's service area covers 320 square miles in southwest Missouri, including the City of Springfield, part of Greene County and part of northern Christian County. The community-owned utility's service area is the same as it was when the City of Springfield purchased the privately-owned Springfield Gas & Electric Company's operations in 1945, the origin of the present-day utility.
