		Renewable Energy The Noble Hill Landfill Renewable Energy Center began delivering electricity to CU customers in May 2006. Methane gas produced by the City of Springfield's landfill is harnessed at the generator, providing 3.2 megawatts of electricity to CU customers. The joint project uses a previously discarded byproduct to produce energy for the community. CU offers renewable, wind-generated electricity imported from a Kansas wind farm. WindCurrent is available for your business in blocks of 100 kilowatt-hours for only $5 more per block than the cost of your regular electricity. CU's commitment to the environment has led to many energy research projects, utilizing wind, solar and landfill sources.
