About the Program:
If you're considering making improvements to your home to lower energy bills or fix comfort problems, you should learn about Home Performance with ENERGY STAR - a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving energy efficicency and comfort at home, while conserving the resources our entire community depends upon to sustain an excellent quality of life.

Benefits of Home Performance with ENERGY STAR:
  • Utility bill savings of 20% or more
  • Fewer drafts and more comfortable rooms
  • Work performed by specially trained contractors
  • Third-party quality assurance to make sure work gets done right

Program Steps:
All steps will need to be completed to participate in the program
  • Schedule an Appointment. Contact one of City Utilities approved energy auditors to perform a home energy assessment.
  • Review the Recommendations. After the assessment is complete, the energy auditor will create a report that details the recommended improvements and calculates the potential savings. The energy auditor will outline the minimum measures required to qualify for the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR rebates.
  • Make the Improvements. You will determine which efficiency measures you would like to complete, then you have the option to work with the energy auditor to implement the recommendations, use your own contractors, or make the improvements yourself. You must retain all receipts and necessary paperwork, as outlined in the rebate applications.
  • Verify the Results. Once the improvements have been made, you will contact the energy auditor to perform a Post-Installation Test of the home. This will verify that the improvements were installed correctly and the second blower-door test will measure the reduction in air leakage in the home.
  • Submit Rebate Applications. The last step is to submit your rebate applications to City Utilities. This must be done within 6 months of the initial energy audit.
