Toilet Performance Test Results.
The Maximum Performance (MaP) testing project was undertaken in 2003 in order to identify how well popular toilet models perform using a realistic test media. A new testing protocol, cooperatively developed by water-efficiency and plumbing fixture specialists in the U.S. and Canada, incorporated the use of soybean paste as a test media, closely replicating the "real world demand" upon fixtures. Performance testing of 285 different toilet fixture models was completed and summarized in the NINTH EDITION Report.

WaterSense Labeled High Efficiency Toilets.
Look for the WaterSense label! Old, inefficient toilets are responsible for most of the water wasted in homes. Replacing these toilets with high-efficiency models (HETs) could save gallons per day. So whether you're remodeling a bathroom, building a new home, or simply replacing an old, leaky toilet, a WaterSense labeled HET is a high-performing, water-efficient option worth considering.
|
 Recycle Alert! |
Please Dispose of Your Old Toilet Properly.
Old toilets must not be reused. Participants agree to destroy or disable their old toilets, and dispose of properly. City Utilities encourages recycling, if possible.
The cost of disposing an old toilet is about $5-$20. Please contact your trash hauler for rules and details. City Utilities will not reimburse the disposal fee.

Insulation Upgrade Rebate
Benefits: 20%, up to $300 mail-in rebate
Who's Eligible: CU residential customers with electric or natural gas services
Rebate Form: Residential insulation rebate form
About the Program:
Don’t let your energy bills go through the roof. Or the walls and floors, either.
You can save energy and money, while increasing comfort, by upgrading the insulation in your home. Attics, crawl spaces, and exterior walls are all places
where it can really pay to have the right amount of insulation. Making sure your home’s insulation level is adequate keeps heated or cooled air where it should be: inside your home.
Plus, the outside air temperature stays where it should be: outside!
Upgrade your insulation and get up to $300 back from CU. Making the investment to add more insulation to your home is an important decision.
To help make it affordable, CU electric or natural gas residential customers are eligible for a 20% rebate, up to $300, of the total cost of insulation upgrades.
Insulation installation site must be an existing residential dwelling. Rebate is not available for new construction. Applicants must own the residence and be the customer of record for an active, non-delinquent account. Rebates are for insulation purchased and installed after November 1, 2006. Certain restrictions apply; see guidelines on the rebate form.
Many qualified contractors are able to perform insulation upgrades. Choose one from the list of contractors registered with City Utilities, or select one of your own to perform the work. Either way, you will be on your way to saving energy and money.

EnergyWise Grant Program
Benefits: Up to $50,000 grant
Grant Application Deadline: May 15, every year
Who's Eligible: CU commercial electric, natural gas or water customers who are non-profit organizations [501(c)(3) status]
Application Form: EnergyWise Grant Application
About the Program:
EnergyWise Grants are intended to help fund projects that cost-effectively reduce energy consumption, water consumption or electric demand, and that do not qualify for existing prescribed rebate programs.
With the low rates that City Utilities customers enjoy, it has traditionally made it difficult to realize a quick return on investment (ROI)
for any capital improvement when relying on energy savings alone. The purpose of this grant is to help reduce that ROI to a level that makes the project practical and cost-effective.
The maximum grant amount available is $50,000, and is offered once per year. The grant request may be a minimum of $1,000 and a maximum of $50,000. This final award amount(s) will be determined after review of all applications received, merit and impact of project.
