ENERGY STAR Home Rating Service
City Utilities is offering an ENERGY STAR Home Rating Service to customers who want an objective, standardized assessment of their home’s energy performance. This service is performed by a certified Home Energy Rating System (HERS) professional who will compare a home’s energy performance to a standard measurement of energy efficiency.
This service is for both new and existing energy-efficient homes. Homebuilders and existing homeowners use the rating to verify the increased energy performance of their home, to qualify for an energy-efficient mortgage, and to receive the ENERGY STAR label as an added value to the home.

ENERGY STAR Central Air Conditioner Rebate
City Utilities electric residential, multi-family and residential new construction customers who purchase and install a high efficiency central air conditioning system may qualify for a rebate of $100 per Ton and $25 for each additional Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) above 14. Nearly 50% of a home’s energy consumption is attributed to heating and cooling. So making wise decisions about your home’s Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems can have a big effect on your comfort level and utility usage. For this reason, City Utilities is offering a rebate to help make this energy efficient decision more affordable.

ENERGY STAR Natural Gas Furnace Rebate
City Utilities natural gas residential, multi-family and residential new construction customers who purchase and install a high efficiency furnace may qualify for a rebate of up to $400. Many ENERGY STAR® qualified natural gas furnaces operate 10-15% more efficient than standard models. So making wise decisions about your home’s Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems can have a big effect on your comfort level and utility usage. City Utilities electric residential, multi-family and residential new construction customers who purchase and install an air-source heat pump system may qualify for a rebate of $100 per Ton and $25 for each additional Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) above 14. Electric air-source heat pumps use the difference between outdoor air temperatures and indoor air temperatures to cool and heat your home.

ENERGY STAR Geothermal Heat Pump Rebate
City Utilities electric residential, multi-family and residential new construction customers who purchase and install a geothermal heat pump system may qualify for a rebate of $200 per Ton and $25 for each additional Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) over the ENERGY STAR® minimum efficiency standard qualifications. Geothermal heat pumps are similar to air-source heat pumps, but use the ground temperature instead of outside air to provide heating, air conditioning and, in many cases, hot water. Because they use the earth’s natural heat, they are among the most efficient and comfortable heating and cooling technologies currently available.

Programmable Thermostat Rebate
Programmable thermostats automatically adjust your home's temperature settings, allowing you to save energy while you're away or sleeping.
They:
- Are more convenient and accurate than manual thermostats and improve your home's comfort.
- Contain no mercury.
- Save energy and save money on utility bills - when used properly, about $100/year.
Programmable thermostats earn the ENERGY STAR® by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the government. These units save energy by offering four convenient, pre-programmed temperature settings - settings that try to anticipate when it's convenient for you to scale back on heating or cooling.
If you are like many homeowners and work outside the home during the day and have a different schedule on the weekend, a programmable thermostat can offer many benefits, and the return on your investment is usually within one year.
On the other hand, if you are home throughout the day, seven days a week, then a programmable thermostat will offer more limited benefits.

Residential Insulation Upgrade Rebate
Don’t let your energy bills go through the roof. Or the walls and floors, either.
You can save energy and money, while increasing comfort, by upgrading the insulation in your home. Attics, crawl spaces, and exterior walls are all places
where it can really pay to have the right amount of insulation. Making sure your home’s insulation level is adequate keeps heated or cooled air where it should be: inside your home.
Plus, the outside air temperature stays where it should be: outside!
Upgrade your insulation and get up to $300 back from CU. Making the investment to add more insulation to your home is an important decision.
To help make it affordable, CU electric or natural gas residential customers are eligible for a 20% rebate, up to $300, of the total cost of insulation upgrades.
