Board Approves 2017 Operating Budget

The Board of Public Utilities today approved the 2017 Operating Budget for City Utilities which will be presented to Springfield City Council for first reading on Monday, August 22. The budget includes both operational and capital projects for each of the commodities managed by CU. Total disbursement authority (expenditures) for 2017 is $537.8 million.

“The 2017 Operating Budget focuses on the expenditures needed to maintain reliable and safe systems in an affordable manner.” said Scott Miller, General Manager – City Utilities, “CU will continue to strive to meet our customers’ expectations for reliable electric, natural gas, water, broadband, and transit services, while maintaining fiscal and environmental integrity.

• Monday, September 6 – Labor Day. All offices closed. Transit operating on holiday schedule.
• Tuesday, September 27 – Board Committee Meeting. (Tentative Date)
