CU Prepares for Significant Winter Storm Event
City Utilities is preparing for the possibility of a significant winter storm moving into the area overnight. During the past week, each department of the utility has been assessing equipment and supplies to ensure that all systems are ready to respond should outages occur.
Customers are reminded to update or confirm a phone number associated with their account. This may be done online or by calling our Customer Service office.
“All of our employees stand ready to assist our customers and community as we monitor and prepare for what could be a major weather event.” said Scott Miller, General Manager – City Utilities of Springfield, “Although we can’t control the variables of weather, the changes we have made and implemented since 2007 will assist us in restoring power to our customers.”

Outages need to be reported directly to the system by calling 1-888-863-9001. Social media channels cannot accept outage reports however, information and updates will be provided through these methods in addition to traditional media outlets on a regular basis.
City Utilities provides electric service to 110,000 customers in the Springfield area.
