May 6 – 12 Declared Drinking Water Week
Springfield joins communities across the nation in celebrating the week of May 6 – 12, 2018, as Drinking Water Week.
Drinking Water Week is supported by the American Water Works Association and its members, to emphasize the importance of an adequate and wholesome water supply. It also recognizes the efforts of City Utilities in providing safe drinking water to our community since 1957.
In 2018, CU supplied water to approximately 80,000 customers throughout the service territory; CU’s typical residential customers used an average of 54,000 gallons during that year. Continuous planning and improvements to the water supply system has been a key component to meeting the water needs of Springfield.
