Hello! My name is Matt. I’ve been with CU for 13 years
CU: What do you do in your position?
Matt: In my position, I supervise a staff of ten employees whose role is to coordinate the dispatching of our Field Services’ and Electric System’s field employees. Field Scheduling speaks with both customers and CU personnel to ensure the quick response to electric, natural gas, and water service problems.
CU: What’s your favorite thing you do?
Matt: I enjoy the opportunity of working with a wide variety of people each day. Field Scheduling has daily interaction with residential, commercial and industrial customers, CU field crews and CU office personnel, as well as interaction with other local governmental entities.
CU: Why do you like working for us?
Matt: I enjoy working for CU because of the impact we have on our community. We provide a vital function to the city of Springfield and surrounding area. I enjoy being a very small piece of that impact.
CU: Why should someone want to apply to work in your department?
Matt: Someone would want to work in Field Scheduling if they enjoy interaction with others and a fast-paced environment. The Field Scheduler position requires problem-solvers who can remain calm during emergency situations.
CU: What do you do outside of work for fun?
Matt: The past year has been a busy one! It started off with an engagement, followed by wedding planning and the wedding, both my wife and I changing jobs, the selling of a house, and the purchase of a new house. It has been awhile since we’ve had too much free time for fun; however, when life settles, I enjoy hanging out with my wife and our furry four-legged roommate, spending time with family and friends, and eating…which then must be followed by running and hiking.
