2019 City Utilities’ Budget

Oct 2, 2018

On September 24, City Council approved our 2019 Annual Operating Budget. The budget includes funding for continued infrastructure replacement of water and natural gas mains, the continuation of automated metering installations for electric, natural gas and water systems, and other projects to add efficient services and value to the community.

Additionally, there are no unapproved rate adjustments in the 2019 budget and in the next five years, we don’t anticipate considering any additional rate increase.

Our budget process for each year takes several months of consideration before first our board of directors meets with City Council to discuss our proposed budget. The board of directors then meets to discuss and approve the proposed budget. The proposed budget then goes to City Council for a first reading in September at a public meeting. After a first reading, the proposed budget is read for a second time at the next City Council meeting and followed by a vote.

The 2019 Annual Operating Budget is available to the public at cityutilities.net and at the Springfield-Greene County Libraries.
