Every second of every day the citizens and visitors to our community expect City Utilities to provide reliable utility services. When you flip a switch, you expect your lights to come on. When you turn on your faucet, you expect clean drinking water to come out of the tap. Springfield’s transit riders expect to arrive to their destinations safely and on time. Natural gas customers expect to have gas for heat and to cook. And the business community relies on SpringNet’s high speed Internet to connect them to the world at competitive speeds. No doubt, City Utilities has a connection to everyone in the Springfield area all the time.

City Utilities has begun the search for our next General Manager. Because the utility impacts your everyday lives, we are looking for your candid feedback on what you would like to see in the utility’s next leader.

About the Position

As the Chief Executive Officer for City Utilities, the General Manager serves as the strategic leader for City Utilities’ vision and mission, provides overall direction for the efficient operation of City Utilities, and advises and makes recommendations to the Board of Public Utilities with respect to these activities and policies.

Public Input

Over the next several months, the Board of Public Utilities, which is a group of citizen-customers that serve as oversight for City Utilities of Springfield, will be searching for candidates to fill the position of General Manager.

As a part of that process, the General Manager Search Committee will evaluate and recommend skills, attributes, background and experiences they believe to be valuable when considering candidates for the next General Manager of City Utilities.
