COVID-19 Update – 4/27/2020
Service Disconnections Suspended Through May – Call to Make Arrangements
City Utilities (CU) continues to monitor the impact that the COVID-19 (coronavirus) is having on our community and like many others, we’re ready to think about getting back to normal routines. Until that happens, we want our customers and community to know that we stand ready to respond to your needs and want to help.
We are extending the suspension of disconnection of utilities for non-payment until June 1, 2020. Customers who are experiencing financial difficulty are asked to contact CU Customer Service at 417-863-9000 to make payment arrangements to avoid late payment charges.
Additional updates at this time are:
- The customer lobby located at 301 E. Central will remain closed until further notice. Customers should contact CU at 417-863-9000 or conduct business online at cityutilities.net. Be aware that call volume has increased during this time, please be patient when contacting our Customer Services area.
- Transit service will continue to operate on modified schedules and routes implemented on March 22. Call 417-863-8702 or visit cutransit.net for additional information.
- Additional cleaning, disinfecting, and response procedures are in place in all utility groups to help reduce chances of the virus spreading.
- Fellows and McDaniel Lake areas remain open for recreation and fishing under normal regulations. Please follow social distancing guidelines at these and all locations.
CU is constantly preparing for many kinds of emergencies, such as storms and other natural disasters; cyber and physical threats; and other events that may create disruptions to work and the workforce. CU is following its Pandemic Response and Business Continuation plans that have been in place, but are adjusting as needed for this event. These policies help to ensure that there is adequate coverage to continue the reliable delivery of electricity, natural gas, water, broadband and transit services.
