June Board of Public Utilities Meeting

The Board of Public Utilities held its monthly meeting today. In addition to presentation of the monthly financial statements, the Board approved resolutions accepting City Utilities Public Transit Agency Safety Plan and acceptance of grant funding for preparation of the plan.  The Board also approved a recommendation for external auditing services.

 

Utility Receives Arbor Day Foundations Tree Line USA Award

CU was awarded the Tree Line USA Award from the Arbor Day Foundation for the 26th consecutive year. The award recognizes the five core standards of quality tree care, annual training, tree planting and public education, tree-based energy conservation programs, and participation in Arbor Day celebrations. The Tree Line USA program recognizes the best practices in public and private utility arboriculture, demonstrating how trees and utilities can co-exist for the benefit or communities and citizens.

 

Lobby Reopening and Service Disconnections

Following closure for COVID-19 guidelines, City Utilities lobby at 301 E. Central will reopen on July 7 with  safety guidelines implemented, including masks and limited number of people allowed to enter at a time. Customers are encouraged to call Customer Service for inquiries and to use alternative payment methods if possible.

Also on July 7, service disconnection notices will be sent to customers with past due amounts that have not made payment arrangements. On March 17, City Utilities temporarily halted disconnections due to the COVID-19 crisis. Customers who have past due amounts are urged to contact Customer Service at 417-863-9000 to discuss options and payment arrangements.

 

Independence Day Holiday Observed

In observance of Independence Day, the Customer Service window at the Transit Center will be closed on Friday, July 3 and CU Transit Services will operate routes on a modified holiday schedule on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

Hourly bus service using routes and schedules normally operated nightly and on Sundays. Service will begin at the Transit Center at 8:10 a.m.; with the last trip leaving at 5:10 p.m. Access Express bus service will be available from 8:10 a.m. until 6:10 p.m. Normal daily route service will resume at 6 a.m. on Sunday, July, 5.
