May 2 – 8 Proclaimed Drinking Water Week
Springfield joins communities across the nation in celebrating the week of May 2 – 8, 2021 as Drinking Water Week. This proclamation was endorsed by the Board of Public Utilities and Springfield City Council.
Drinking Water Week is supported by the American Water Works Association and its members, to emphasize the importance of an adequate and wholesome water supply for residents. It also recognizes the efforts of City Utilities to provide safe drinking water to our community since 1957.
In 2020, CU supplied water to approximately 83,000 customers throughout the service territory with each residential account using an average of 55,000 gallons. Continuous planning and improvements to the water supply system has been a key component to meeting the water needs of Springfield.
