Oakstar Bank Provides Additional Funding to Low Income Insulation Program
A generous donation from OakStar Bank’s BrightOak Division, will help provide additional attic insulation of low-income residents. OakStar’s donation of $100,000 will be added to City Utilities $200,000 commitment to insulate approximately 250 homes in the Springfield area. Jimmy Stilley, CEO of BrightOak, says “We are honored to collaborate with City Utilities on this important project and are thankful to be able to invest in our community in a way that will impact 250 households for years to come.” Customers who are eligible for the insulation program will be notified by City Utilities based on eligibility
To assist all residential customers, manage winter heating costs, CU has increased its Insulation Rebate program to 50 percent of the total cost, up to $500 for insulation upgrades through February 2022. For more information of this and other rebates, visit our Ways to Save page.
Harmony House to Benefit from 2021 Halloween Hustle Event
The 2021 Halloween Hustle, organized by City Utilities and held on October 30, set a new dollar amount raised to benefit Harmony House. Over 400 participants and sponsors helped to raise $22,916 to support the needs and mission of the area’s domestic violence shelter “Domestic violence is prevalent in our community,” said Jared Alexander, Harmony House Philanthropy Director. “The support from this annual event helps Harmony House provide a safe environment to those in need.” Information on services provided by Harmony House can be found on their website.
Mask Requirement on Buses Extended into March
Federal regulations will continue to require all passengers of City Utilities Transit to wear a mask through March 18, 2022. In June, the requirement was extended through January 18, 2022, but due to rising cases of COVID – 19, and the emergence of the omicron variant, an extension of the Transportation Security Administration’s mandate requires masks on airplanes, trains, buses, airports, and train stations, through March 18, 2022. The TSA mask requirement is required on all CU Transit vehicles and at the Transit Center.
