2022 Driver of the Year

Larry Grube, 2022 Driver of the Year

CU Transit Driver Larry Grube has been selected as the 2022 Driver of the Year. The Driver of the Year award recognizes job performance, courtesy, neatness, attendance, safety, and attitude, and is selected by a group of peers and Transit management. “Our drivers work with the community every day, greeting them with a smile and genuinely care about their passengers,” says Matt Crawford, Director of Transit. “They care about the community we serve and for each other.” Larry has been a transit driver for 15 years and has previously been Driver of the Year in 2014 and 2019.

 

Utility Awarded Funding for Water Projects

Through the By America Buy America Act (BABA), City Utilities has been awarded funding for two water department projects including $3.5 million for the completion of a secondary 48 – inch raw water main, from Fellows Lake to Blackman Water Treatment Plant. A total of $5 million is estimated to complete this project with the remaining funds provided by CU. Completion of the 48 – inch water main is expected to be in late 2023. Additional federal funding of $14 million has been designated for construction of a booster pump station along the Stockton Water Pipeline, with design and construction in upcoming years.

Details of the 48 – inch Water Main project, including a scheduled public meeting date, can be found at this site. Both projects are receiving funds through the By America Buy America Act (BABA) through the Consolidated Appropriated Act and are administered by the EPA Region 7.

 

Severe Weather Preparedness Week – March 6 through 10

Spring weather in the Ozarks often brings severe weather conditions, including the possibility of tornados and strong thunderstorms. During the week of March 6, the National Weather Service will be focusing on Missouri for Severe Weather Awareness Week and providing safety and awareness information. City Utilities will be sharing this information and providing additional safety tips focusing on utility related topics.
