Military Support Award Recognition
Utility Recognized for Support to Members of The National Guard and Reserve
City Utilities of Springfield, and four individual employees, have been recognized by the ESGR office of the Department of Defense, for support given to employees serving in the National Guard or Reserve. Nominations for these awards are made by an employee who is serving in the National Guard or Reserve, to the ESGR (Employee Support of the Guard and Reserve) office.
The ESGR Patriot Award reflects the efforts made by supervisors to support citizen warriors through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed. Receiving the Patriot Award were Steve Gore, Director of Customer Services; Tracy O’Dell, Human Resources; Mara Mooneyham – Supervisor – Human Resources; and Relina Taylor, Supervisor- Customer Services. “The men and women who serve our county country, give about and beyond of themselves to serve as citizen warriors,” said Retired Col, Steven Vanderhoof, ESGR Area 4 Chair, “Knowing that their employers and co-workers are there to support them provides a high-level of comfort while they’re away for training or deployed on missions.”
The ESGR Above and Beyond award was presented to City Utilities of Springfield, as a company, for exceeding the legal requirements to support employees who are members of the Guard or Reserve. “It’s an honor to receive this award for the utility, and it’s a greater honor to have employees serving our nation,” said Gary Gibson, City Utilities President and CEO. “It’s important for those serving our nation to know that we are committed to supporting them as they serve and protect our country.”
