Extreme Heat Increases Demands on Utility Systems – How to Reduce and Save

The extreme heat this week is not only uncomfortable, but it also places higher demands on customers’ electric and water systems. Increased usage and extreme heat can also strain utility equipment. Reducing usage during peak times from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., can help to reduce potential issues caused by increased demand.

CU water customers can help by using the Even and Odd watering plan for lawn irrigation. Not only do these steps help reduce system demands, but they can also help customers save on their utility bills. Additional ways for customers to save, available rebates, and other tips, can be found on the Ways to Save page of our website.

Our Customer Service team is available at (417) 863-9000 to assist and if needed, can help with payment arrangements. Customers should also register for My Account to track utility usage, receive updates, and useful tips that will help year-round. For more information or to register, click on the My Account tab on our website.
