Back-to-School Electric Safety

It’s finally back-to-school season! As the summer vacation comes to an end, it’s time for our little ones to begin a new academic year. From home to the classroom to the playground, here are some key tips to share with your kids to keep them safe around electricity as they venture out:

• Never go near downed power lines. Stay far away and call 911.
• Stay out of trees near power lines. Always look up before you climb.
• Never fly kites, drones, or other toys near power lines.
• Keep water away from all electronics.
• Never put objects in outlets or appliances.
• Don’t yank an electrical cord from the wall.
• Put safety caps on all unused electrical outlets.
