Environmental Responsibility

The commitment of City Utilities to responsible stewardship of our natural resources is ongoing as efforts continue to safeguard our community’s environment.

  • City Utilities has a long-standing partnership with and provides financial support for the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks, a local group charged with the protection of Springfield’s watershed.
  • City Utilities has been a Tree Line USA utility since 1994, recognized for our commitment to delivering safe and reliable electricity while maintaining healthy trees within our service area.
  • Since 1999, City Utilities has been awarded the Environmental Protection Agency Partnership for Safe Water Program – Directors Certificate. City Utilities received this award in recognition of efforts to achieve excellence in water quality beyond what is required by federal regulations.
  • City Utilities continually searches for environmentally friendly alternatives for producing energy.  The CU Solar Initiative was one such program in our portfolio of renewable energy.
