March 2016 Board Update

Mar 31, 2016

Semi-annual Electric and Natural Gas Fuel Rate Adjustments

Electric customers of City Utilities can expect to pay approximately $5.50 less each month on average for service during the months of April through September 2016, compared to the same period last year. The decrease is due to reduced fuel costs and lower purchased energy costs, and is based on average residential usage. The adjustment is part of the semi-annual approval process that ensures estimated fuel costs used to produce electricity for customers balances with actual fuel costs. The new rate for fuel is among the lowest CU customers have paid in the last 10 years.

Natural gas customers can expect to pay less for natural gas over the next six months due to lower than anticipated purchased gas costs. Residential customers using average volumes of natural gas should pay $.50 less per month than the same period last year.

Average residential customer usage includes 1,000 kWh of electricity and 28 therms of natural gas per month.
